Mercedes Hochmuth is a German-Argentinian soprano. Graduated as a classical singer from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes of Argentina, she expanded her academic horizons through an enriching exchange at the prestigious Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Switzerland. She has received a solid technical training under the guidance of renowned teachers such as Gustavo López-Manzitti, Laura Pisani, and Pablo Pollitzer, as well as in repertoire with Eduviges Picone, Sergio Giai, Carlos Koffman, and Ángel Opitz.
Since childhood, Mercedes has been captivated by music and the stage. Her early steps in performing arts, through theater and musical comedy classes, paved the way for her subsequent dedication to lyric singing. This passion for music has translated into exceptional versatility, spanning genres from opera to pop, rock, and jazz, as well as in the field of voice over and dubbing.
Recognized for her talent, Mercedes has been awarded scholarships from the Mozarteum Argentino and the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), allowing her to continue her artistic development with distinguished teachers and enrich her language and cultural education. Additionally, she has participated in numerous Masterclasses and specialization courses in singing and acting.
In the classical realm, Mercedes has performed roles such as Gretel in "Hänsel und Gretel" by E. Humperdinck, Le feu/Le Rossignol in "L'enfant et les sortilèges" by M. Ravel, Bastienne in "Bastien und Bastienne," and Papagena/Knabe I in "Die Zauberflöte" by W. A. Mozart, Amahl in "Amahl and the Night Visitors" by G. C. Menotti, among others. She has been part of internationally renowned productions, such as the world premiere of "Dietegen" by Spohr-Spoerri at the TonHalle Maag in Zurich, as well as chamber music and symphonic-choral concerts. Mercedes also has choral experience, having been a member as soprano 1 in the choir of the Teatro Lírico del Centro del Conocimiento in Argentina.
In the pop/rock/musical realm, Mercedes has excelled in the leading role of the musical "Hairspray" and participated in other musicals such as "A Chorus Line," "Cambio de Hábitos," and "El Sueño de Akim" (an Argentine musical), demonstrating her versatility and charisma on stage. As a co-founder of "Brio Live Music," she has brought her talent to numerous stages and social events.
As a dubbing and voice over artist, she has made her mark on numerous international projects, lending her voice to animated series and YouTube channels. Additionally, the work she does with her team in creating and producing covers and original songs has been valued by clients worldwide.
Fluent in Spanish (native language), German, and English, Mercedes is adept at communicating across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
